GOVT COMMENDS MCA-MALAWI

Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, has heaped praises at Millennium Challenge Account-Malawi (MCA-Malawi) for its tireless efforts towards restoring the livelihood of those Malawians affected by the implementation of the $350.7 million Compact project.

The Ministry, has also commended MCA-Malawi for involving government in all its programs aimed at compensating all the Project Affected Persons (PAPs).

Deputy Director responsible for Research and Investigation in the Ministry of Agriculture Gilson Njunga said this at Mikolongwe College of Veterinary Sciences in Chiradzulu District when he recently presided over a graduation ceremony of 79 PAPs from Lilongwe and Ntcheu in goat production and management.

The two-week training course (second cohort) was part of MCA-Malawi’s Livelihood Restoration Plan (LRP).

“There are a number of NGOs in the country who are doing their interventions without involving the Department of Animal Health and Livestock Development. This is creating a lot of confusion. But this is not the case with MCA-Malawi which is always engaging government in all its interventions at whatever stage,” said Njunga.

He added: “MCA-Malawi is doing what is expected from government. It is important to train those affected by the project in basic science approved by us.”
