NKULA A ADDS POWER TO NATIONAL GRID ON TRIAL BASIS

There is milestone to the $350.7 million Malawi Compact as the first of the three new Generators installed inside the new Power House at Nkula A (Unit 1) is now online and 11.6 megawatts is now added to the National Power Grid on trial run. The trial run ends this month end (July 2018).This is part of the results of the modernization works of Nkula A, under the $350.7 million Malawi Power Compact, courtesy of the people of United States of America, acting through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). Two more generators (Unit 2 and 3) are yet to go online and would also add 12 megawatts each to the national grid. Overall, Nkula A is expected to maximize power output generated at the power plant to 36 megawatts from 24 megawatts, once commissioned.
