LATEST ON NEW BUNDA TURN-OFF SUBSTATION

Having drifted into the final year (2018) of the $350.7 million Malawi power Compact, this is how construction works for the new Bunda Turn-Off Substation in Lilongwe have progressed to date. At the site, contractor, Chint Electric, has already completed the roofing of a Gate House while roofing of a Control Room Building is underway and has advanced, among other major works. Malawi Government, with funding from Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), through Millennium Challenge Account-Malawi (MCA-M), is currently expanding and rehabilitating this substation. Upon completion, the rehabilitation, modernization and upgrading of this Substation, will increase capacity of the Substation, allowing more domestic customers and industries to get connected to power in Lilongwe. Below is a snapshot of how construction works have progressed as at 9 January, 2018.
