UPDATED PICTORIAL FOCUS OF NKULA A REHAB

Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO), with funding from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), through the Millennium Challenge Account-Malawi (MCA-Malawi), is rehabilitating, upgrading and modernizing Nkula A Hydropower Plant (HPP).The objective is to maximize power output of the hydroelectric power plant from the current 24 Megawatts to 36 Megawatts, thereby increasing 12 megawatts to the national grid. This is part of the Infrastructure Development component of the United States of America (USA) $350.7 million power sector grant to the Malawi Government, signed in September 2013.Currently, contractors of the project, Andritz Hydro of Austria and Mota Engil of Portugal are working flat out in rehabilitating the aging power plant, constructed in 1966.The pictorial focus below shows some of the updated work in progress at the plant:
