VISITING MCC MANAGING DIRECTOR TOURS BUNDA, DZENZA SUBSTATIONS

The visiting Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Managing Director for Africa, Jason Small yesterday (June 5, 2016) toured Bunda Turn-off and Dzenza Substations in Lilongwe as part of his few days visit in  Malawi to appreciate progress in the implementation of the $350.7 million Malawi Compact.

Mr. Small, who oversees a multi-country Africa portfolio in the MCC’s Department of Compact Operations, also took his time off his tight schedule to visit some Project Affected Persons (PAPs), whom MCA-Malawi has constructed houses at Tsabango in Lilongwe.

During the visit, Mr. Small appreciated work in progress of the rehabilitation and modernization of the 132/66 kV Bunda Substation and the construction of the new Dzenza Substation in Area 25 in Lilongwe.

Both works are being undertaken by a Chinese firm, Chint Eletric.

Today (June 6, 2017), Mr. Small is expected to visit the 400/132 kV Phombeya electricity substation in Balaka and Nkula A Hydro Power Plant.
